Halloween is difficult especially when it comes to finding a celebrity to dress as. I've had to opt for general occupations and animals- since I'm black.. and white-face isn't really an option.
I also need to find a burgundy dress with turtleneck or a v neck burgundy dress and find a charcoal turtleneck. Other things on the list to find is a USS Enterprise patch (for the neck) and pin (gold- for the chest.) I also need a blue tooth that I can spray paint silver or a silver bluetooth earpiece.
While watching Star Trek: Into Darkness this year I realized, whoa! there's an icon who is black that I've never thought of portraying. Plus- Zoe Saldana does a ridiculous job of making Uhura current and hot so I'm all for it. Plus, it's modest enough that I don't have to alter it for work or anything. Also, I can wear boots without looking trashy and they'll be comfortable. I wonder if I can find my riding boots that I bought for Halloween 2010. If not, I'll be thrifting for a chance to get a cheap pair.

Update: After some research and a trip to my local Goodwill, I scored these boots (below), a black turtleneck & came up with a plan. Since every adult costume ever made is too long for my 4'10 stature, I'll pull a circa Halloween 2009 & wear a children's or teens version of the dress. Seeing as the neck (built for that of a child, may not fit, I'll score off the turtle neck and replace it with the one Goodwill gave away for 2.50$.
